It started with the Sunshine program. Mylee was very excited for it and it was nice to get it over with early in the month as the end of the month was just plain hectic. She did a great job. She even had a little solo and she belted it out right into the microphone. I couldn't believe it. We were so proud of her!!
Next came my grandma Perkin's Christmas party. Now that she's in the nursing home, we weren't able to spend Christmas day with her so we had a little party for her the Sunday before Christmas. She didn't really get what was going on or what all of the fuss was about, but we sure enjoyed spending the time with her. The kids loved it because they got to sing her Christmas carols and hand her presents to open. Then they each got to take a candy cane and tell her something about themselves before they opened it. It was neat to spend the time with her even if she didn't really understand who we were or what was going on.
Then, right before Christmas, was the school play. The tradition still stands for the dads to sing with their kindergarten kids. Mylee was so excited to sing with her dad. I didn't get very good pictures because I was also trying to film it and watch the other two girls at the same time. Mylee & Martin looked so cute up there together. It was a moment I will always cherish and look forward to with the other kids.
We let the girls open their present from Grandma & Grandpa Martinez early because we had a very big hunch they were going to be Christmas dresses and Martin wanted to see them wear them before he went to work (he had to go to work on the 23rd). This is a picture of the girls in their dresses. They love them, so thank you so much, Grandma & Grandpa, "Tinez."
Next came Christmas!!! We stayed at my parents' house since Martin was gone. I didn't want to wake up by myself on Christmas morning. Plus, Kevin, Zoe, & Michael were there, so we thought it would be fun to spend Christmas Eve with them. We had a great time on Christmas Eve and the girls were so excited for Santa to come. It was really hard for me to not have Martin there, but watching the girls' excitement helped keep my mind off of it. They, of course, loved their gifts and spent the morning getting in and out of their new cars. Mireya was very excited she got a car too and her next favorite thing had to have been the gum in her stocking!! Anyway, we went to the lake to have dinner with Lori & Dan and David & Traci, but because the weather wasn't very good, we had to rush home. It was so fun to spend Christmas together with the whole fam again, as we have all been having our own Christmases for a few years now. We had a very merry Christmas and hope everyone else did as well.
